On today’s episode of The 700 Club, Pat Robertson told his millions of followers that there is a “left-wing bias” in the media, and that he’s terrified over gays and lesbians who are now ‘dominating’ society.
“We have given the ground to a small minority,” he said. “You figure, lesbians, one percent of the population; homosexuals, two percent of the population. That’s all. That’s statistically all. But they have dominated — dominated the media, they’ve dominated the cultural shift and they have infiltrated the major universities. It’s just unbelievable what’s being done. A tiny, tiny minority makes a huge difference. The majority — it’s time it wakes up.”
Of course, like usual, there’s no logic behind Robertson’s statements. What does ‘dominated’ mean? Is Robertson upset that the LGBT community can now be on TV without crowds taking their pitchforks to the streets? Is he upset that we’re still insisting on equal rights for all LGBT people? Most likely he’s just stirring the hate pot because that’s what his conservative ‘Christian’ followers want to hear.
Robertson added that he is working with actor Kevin Sorbo, former Hercules actor, to ‘take back the culture.’ “So what are you gonna do? Kevin Sorbo brought me some scripts so I just finished reading some scripts. I got one that I think would make a pretty good movie. I’m going to talk to Kevin to see what he thinks. We gotta make some more movies.”
