Trae Crowder, who is known for his performance persona ‘the Liberal Redneck,’ has been given a script commitment by ABC. He will get a new half-hour comedy project.

The new series is co-written by Crowder and John Enbom, the creator of Starz’s Party Down with Thomas, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd. It is inspired by Crowder’s life. It follows Crowder back to his hometown in Tennesee for a new job while he struggles to balance his wife and son’s needs with his family and Southern heritage.

Last season, he had a similar comedy series with Fox from the same creative team but a different premise where he returned to his hometown.

Crowder’s Liberal Redneck videos have been popular on Facebook and Youtube and he has been a viral sensation since he started releasing them in 2016.

In 2016, Crowder, along with his comedy touring partners, Drew Morgan and Corey Ryan Forrester, published a book called The Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin’ Dixie Outta the Dark. The three are currently in the second year of a national tour. This year,  Crowder also started a weekly podcast, Corey & Drew.
