On Wednesday, Fox News host Shepard Smith openly mocked Trump’s request for a military parade. He suggested that Trump should be given plastic replicas of military equipment.
Shepard’s comment came during a discussion with Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin. Griffin said she heard from military officials they have “more pressing and important issues on their plates, and planning a parade is not one of them.”
Smith then offered an alternative. He responded, “He could go see the tanks at a military base if he wanted to.”
He continued, “Or they could give him replicas, little mini replicas. I mean, he wants to see what he has. You can get the little plastic ones and lay them out on the table and say ‘here you go.’ ”
Griffin joined in and suggested, “We can play Strategy and Risk.”
On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that the Pentagon was planning a military parade. Shortly after the report, The White House confirmed the news.
According to James Mattis, the parade shows Trump’s “respect” for the military.
Mattis stated, “I think what my responsibility is to make certain I lay out the strategy and make the argument for the oversight of Congress to make the determination of fully funding us. As far as the parade goes again, the president’s respect, his fondness for the military, I think is reflected in him asking for these options.”

However, the D.C. Council gave Trump a big no by tweeting out a ‘no tanks’ symbol. They wrote, “The DC government will open on time today. DC Public Schools will open on time today. Sadly, the Giant Tank Parade is cancelled. Permanently.”

Several Democrats and Republicans have criticized Trump’s proposal for a parade saying that it would waste time and money. They also added that it could damage D.C.
