According to Senator Luther Strange (R-Ala.), he recently stated that he considers Trump’s victory “a biblical miracle.” He was appointed to replace the seat that was vacated by Sen. Jeff Sessions who is now the Attorney General for President Trump.
During the candidate forum that the Montgomery County Republican Executive Committee set up at the Farmers Market Cafe, Strange told the people, “President Trump is the greatest thing that’s happened to this country. I consider it a Biblical miracle that he’s there.”
He also promised the people that he would continue to try and repeal Obamacare which he called a “disaster.” This promise drew some applause from the crowd.
“We’re going to take care of the most vulnerable citizens,” stated Strange. “But remember what this was intended to do, was to take care of disabled individuals and poor women and children. We have now turned it into a massive entitlement, just one example of the problems facing this country.”
His comments come as others are running for the same seat.
There are ten Republicans including Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) and eight Democrats who are running for the same seat. However, Alabama is a very red state so there is slim to no chance for the Democrats to win.
Brooks criticized Slam as “an establishment Republican” who is backed by “pro-Amnesty establishment money.
There was a straw poll taken during the forum in which Brooks won by receiving 50 votes.
