Donald Trump Jr. calls it “hilarious grade A trolling,” but it’s actually a crime. He posted a picture of himself on Friday stamping U.S. bills with “Donald Trump lives here.”
Jr. says he posted a picture weeks ago that showed a bill with the same stamp. He told his followers that it was hilarious and that he wanted one of the stamps. A few weeks later, someone names “Will D.” sent him one of the stamps.
According to Bankrate.com, “The specific federal law at issue is 18 USC 333, which proscribes criminal penalties against anyone who ‘mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, or Federal Reserve bank, or the Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt unfit to be reissued.’
A follower on Instagram, jimmie_ck, was quick to point out that Junior seems to not care. He wrote, ” It’s illegal to deface money not that you care about laws. But pretty sure you care about money.”

Trump Jr. is already in hot water with the Department of Justice following his 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer. He was there to obtain comprising information on Hillary Clinton and has lied about it to federal authorities. This could bring him false statement charges in the future.
