The Trump Russia scandal is back on people’s minds thanks to Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. Over the weekend he admitted that he met with Russian lawyer during the 2016 presidential campaign.
On Monday, during her interview with Good Morning America, Kellyanne Conway was trying to do some damage control but seemed to fail miserably.
She was shown her past lies about whether any of the members of the Trump campaign met with Russian officials during the presidential campaign. This seemed to have caught Conway off guard.
After the clip, host George Stephanopoulos pointed out that she was lying in the clip. Then Stephanopoulos asked, “Who misled you, and why did Don Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort allow those public denials to stand for so many months?”
Conway replied, “So as I understand it, George, some of those public disclosure forms have been amended since that time to reflect other meetings, including this one.”
Conway tried to change the subject and stated that Trump Jr. didn’t get any damaging information about Hillary Clinton. She tried to use this claim to prove that he didn’t collude with the Russian government.
But Stephanopoulos didn’t let her off, so he pressed her and asked, “Why did people in the administration allow these denials to stand for so many months?”
Conway did pause before responding like she was trying to think of another lie. She finally responded with, “The people involved in the meeting could answer those questions better for you. But as I understand it, George, people’s disclosure forms have been amended to reflect meetings such as this. And Don Jr. came forward this weekend and gave more information about the meeting.”
Stephanopoulos interrupted and reminded her, “After denying it!”
