When our staff was discussing this recently, we guessed that any effort to research voting fraud would turn out a higher number of Trump supporters who voted illegally. Terri Lynn Rote, from De Moines, is the perfect example.
Rote was charged Thursday with first-degree election misconduct, which is a felony. She was released on a $5,000 bond.
The Des Moines Register reported that Rote cast two ballots in the general election, one with an early-voting ballot and another at a county polling location.
Rote says she didn’t plan to do so and it was a “spur of the moment” thing. “I don’t know what came over me” she said.
In the ultimate irony, as an excuse for her actions, she claimed that the election was rigged.
